The Secret world of Animal Intelligence…
I found this story yesterday and checked to make sure it was legit…..but the results were inconclusive. So let me know if you find out otherwise….BTW I’m so tired of being duped by Hollywood…..we all do have to be careful that we’re not just trudging along like a bunch of lemurs. Ever since the Animal Channel ran that multi-hour “Mockumentary” about “mermaids” which I sat through INANELY from beginning to end, I’m afraid I’ve gotten to be a little jaded. Seriously that irks me to no end…..we have so much great stuff we can learn and discover in this world…..what was the purpose of not only CREATING but having all of us sit through something that wasn’t even true?…..especially because they made it out TO be true. We could have been doing something constructive….something that added to our purpose and being instead of deducted from it. I promise you something, I will never share anything with you that’s not true, on purpose.
Lawrence Anthony, a legend in South Africa and author of 3 books including the bestseller, “The Elephant Whisperer.” He bravely rescued wildlife and rehabilitated elephants all over the globe from human atrocities, including the courageous rescue of Baghdad Zoo animals during the US invasion in 2003. On March 7, 2012 Lawrence Anthony died. He is remembered and missed by his wife, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, and numerous elephants. Two days after his passing, the wild elephants showed up at his home led by two large matriarchs. Separate wild herds arrived in droves to say goodbye to their beloved ‘man-friend’. A total of 31 elephants had patiently walked over 12 miles to get to his South African House. Witnessing this spectacle, humans
were obviously in awe not only because of the supreme intelligence and precise timing that these elephants sensed about Lawrence’s passing, but also because of the profound memory and emotion the beloved animals evoked in such an organized way: Walking slowly, for days, making their way in a solemn one-by-one queue from their habitat to his house.
Lawrence’s wife, Francoise, was especially touched, knowing that the elephants had not been to his house prior to that day for well over 3 years! But yet they knew where they were going. The elephants obviously wanted to pay their deep respects, honoring their friend who’d saved their lives – so much respect that they stayed for 2 days 2 nights without eating anything. Then one morning, they left, making their long journey back home.
Perhaps Animals are more intelligent and cognizant that we realize? We humans have industrialized and commercialized the “manufacture” of animals and do you suppose that some day we’ll find out that these animals have a brand of intelligence that matches or even exceeds that which we have as humans? All I can say is think about it. Think about it…..
How the people that bug us the most, can help us.
There is something to this saying from Jung that “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
My sister and I had an argument once….and in the middle of this knock down drag out screaming fest I realized that all the things I was saying about her, were the exact same things she was saying about me. 20 years later I haven’t stopped thinking about that moment in time – what it meant and what it said about who and what I am.
As difficult as it is – if this same thing ever happens to you – stop and ask yourself if the things this other person is saying about you are true. Ask yourself who this other person is and if they have any reason to lie to you or to hurt you.
I’m not saying that it’s 100% for sure that the things they’re saying will be true, but I am saying that they COULD be true and no one is going to help you to come to this revelation besides yourself.
Do yourself a favor and start by being honest with yourself. It’s funny but that’s one of the hardest things in the world to do – to see yourself as you really are. Have you ever noticed how the heavier person doesn’t see themselves as quite that fat or the person with heavy-duty wrinkles thinks they look great for their age? Have you ever noticed how different you look when you look in the mirror vs. how you look in a snap shot? It is hard to be realistic about ourselves and of course it’s always easier to criticize someone else OTHER than ourselves.
Take this opportunity to try to see yourself through your loved ones eyes….make sure that person really does love you and isn’t suffering from their own delusions of perception, but if you know them and trust them, you should consider if their criticisms of you are true.
Don’t beat yourself up over it…..just try to see yourself for who you really are. Then if you don’t like what and who you see, CHANGE. Don’t listen to that BS that people say “you can’t teach and old dog new tricks.” That is pure doggie doo doo. You can do and be whoever and whatever you want to be.
Start by being honest with yourself. Don’t get depressed by what and who you see….just take strength and joy from knowing that you can do and be whoever you want to be.
Our forgotton connection with the animal world…..
I’ve read hundreds and hundreds of stories about near death experiences and nearly all of them describe a “life review” of all the bad and good things we’ve done in our lives. I’ve heard it’s like a 3-d movie in the most incredible detail…like you’re actually there seeing what you do and to whom. However, it was only recently that I read about an NDE that described a life review where the person involved was shown not only the kind and unkind things he had done to other humans, but also the kind and unkind things he had done to animals. It does make me stop and think.
Please check out this short story about a humpback whale that was caught in a nylon net off the coast of Baja California and some people who came along to save it. Watch them soak up the love that the whale shows them after they spent over an hour trying to release the whale from captivity. Then consider how you interact with animals and what influence they have in your life. (btw not sure why this isn’t appearing as a video here but it’s just a link to You Tube).
Measuring daylight with your fingers…
I admit this has nothing to do with the price of tea in China (so don’t let this be the only blog posting of mine your read…PLEASE) but it’s cool and I haven’t had time to write in the last few days so I thought I’d share this with ya!!!! Keep thinking positively…keep sharing positive words and thoughts and as my Chiropractor once said to me when I said something negative…..say “Cancel that thought” if you ever find yourself saying or even THINKING something you wish you hadn’t.
Meanwhile check out this cool little item:
